I’m a new dad Once Again!!! Julia Roberta was born on October 10th, 2008.  I am continuing the ever eventful experiences of balancing the lives of a father, a teacher and a student. My blog will be a venue for me to reflect on my practice as an Instructional Specialist for Denver Public Schools. I will occasionally post thoughts, ideas and/or questions I am pondering about how to best support the schools that I work with. I have also collected my professional and graduate portfolios on this blog. I hope these will serve as an ongoing body of evidence to future employers. Additionally, I am now adding the work I am completing as a member of the Ritchie Program for School Leaders at the University of Denver.

Ana and MomMore importantly than all that, I’d also like to talk from time to time about my two THREE best girls, my wife Dominique and my daughter’s Ana and Julia. They are a constant source of joy and support and they will likely be an inspiration for some of my posts.  Watch for stories of Ana’s first ski day and my attempt to run a half marathon in January in San Diego.

siesta-timethmb.jpgMy work as an Instructional Specialist for Denver Public Schools has been a fantastic experience. I look forward to growing as a professional while I continue to support Math and Science instruction in the schools of Network 5. I am enjoying the deeper and more meaningful work I am doing with teachers in schools. I have also been fortunate to be involved with several projects that are integrating technology at the classroom, school and district level. My role earlier this year as a lecturer for the CU-ELA courses has also been challenging and I will continue to make efforts to develop both my understanding and systems that best meet the needs of our district’s teachers.

img_2026tmb.JPGYou will see as you navigate around this blog that I am developing systems for knowledge management both within the Denver Public Schools and in some external organizations. I am hopeful that this site as well as others systems that are being developed and deployed might serve as a model of innovative thinking to extend the sustainability and relevance of knowledge management in our increasingly complex and data-driven roles in the educational construct.
