CCTM Conference-21st Century Learning and Teaching in Elementary Mathematics Classrooms-Fall 2008
This presentation was designed to be an interactive experience for the participants. The goal was to use video to stimulate conversation around the NCTM Process Standards for Mathematics as a tool to prepare students for the world they will face in the years to come.
CCTM Conference-Flipping the Inverted RtI Triangle: Using CBM and Targeted Intervention to Remediate Instructional Deficits-Fall 2008
This presentation was designed to share the fundamental principles of the Response to Instruction process. It developed the idea that use of Curriculum-Based Measures and targeted intervention could alleviate some of the class-wide deficits. Additionally, it supports the intentionality and strategic nature of the process to, “win small, win early, win often”.
CASE Mathematics Presentation-Summer 2008
CoMMIT, (Colorado Metropolitan Math Intervention Team) presented this session to school leaders from throughout Colorado on July 22, 2008. The session was titled, Math Matters: Achieving in Mathematics by Closing the Opportunity Gap. FEATS Interactive Website-Summer 2008
The Colorado FEATS (Fostering Elementary Achievement Through Science ) program and I are developing an interactive teachers resource to support teachers as they implement kit-based inquiry-focused curricula. This represents a collaboration amongst several metropolitan school districts as they work together to increase student achievement through science instruction.
Urban Teacher Partnership-21st Century Learning and Communication-Spring 2008
This presentation was co-presented with Stevan Kalmon, Executive Director, Council on 21st Century Learning. We designed the presentation for the National Summit of the Urban Teacher Partnership. The focus of the summit was recruiting, preparing and retaining teachers in urban schools. Our purpose was to connect the value of assessment and communication for learning to the needs of both students and teachers.
21st Century Learning and Teaching for School Leaders-Winter 2008
This session discusses and develops a deeper connection between the role of school leaders and the 21st century digital learning environment. It will focus on the appropriate uses of technology in instruction, communication and managing data and information.
CCTM Conference-Differentiating Instruction for ALL learners-Fall 2007
In the Fall of 2007 Suzanne Rougier and I were fortunate enough to present at the annual Colorado Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference. This 90 minute session discussed strategies for supporting struggling learners using the 2007 edition of Everyday Mathematics. Our presentation went extremely well and I was later invited out to the Byers School District to present the session again to a group of teachers as a part of their professional learning.
Principals Institute-Denver Public Schools-All Means ALL Session-Spring 2007
Our entire Network 5 team collaborated on this 3 hour session at the Denver Public Schools Principal Institute. The title of the presentation was, All Means ALL. It focused on creating strong conditions for successful communities of practice.
